If you're from the Des Moines area or ever visiting, Molly's Cupcakes is a great stop to make! Some people might think of it as a place to get sweets catered for events, parties, etc. But if you ever visit the actual shop itself, you'll see it's more than that.
The inside is darling — and it's located in a happening spot in the East Village. Not only do they have delicious cupcakes, they also have other baked goods and ice cream. Just like any coffee shop or cafe, it would be a great spot for afternoon meetings, studying, or even a date! The environment is upbeat and light-hearted.
Visiting Molly's and shooting for this fashion post made me reflect on my confidence — especially when I'm in public doing things for my blog. If you can image, sometimes it's not the most comfortable thing taking photos out in public like this. But, it got me thinking...
When I first started this blog, I thought it would be easy — after all, I used to have a blog with my sisters. But a couple weeks in, feelings of doubt started creeping in. Putting yourself out there is definitely easier — and you feel more comfortable — doing it in a group. I really believe that's true about anything.
At first, I was constantly texting my sisters — sending them photos, post ideas, really anything and everything, because I thought I needed validation that my idea was good enough. And I'll be honest, I still bug friends and family occasionally to bounce ideas back and forth. But over the past couple of months, I started realizing something.
It doesn't matter.
As long as I'm being 100% true to myself and writing and posting about things I enjoy, the right people will follow. And, from the beginning, I've always said that I'm not doing this for anyone else but my own personal enjoyment, which still stands true. But I'm SO glad people enjoy it. It's pretty fun!
This blog has helped me with my confidence. It's helped me open up and be myself 24/7. It's helped my confidence as a writer and creative. It's truly become an outlet for me and I'm so thankful that I finally feel confident enough in myself that I'm doing the right thing by following my passion.
I know you guys wanted to see the beautiful photo of me actually eating the cupcake ... so here you go! |
SHOP THE LOOK
| Kimono
I searched high and low for this kimono for you guys. I got it at TJ Maxx, but couldn't find it anywhere online — even by searching for the brand! But, I just got it a couple of days ago. So if you love it (like I do) there's a high chance a TJ near you has it! If you're into the convenience of online shopping, I linked one that's similar.
| Necklace
This has been my go-to necklace ever since I got it!
| Shirt
I actually got this shirt a while ago, so, unfortunately, I couldn't find the exact one online. Funny enough, it's an athletic shirt from Target! Linked is one that's super similar that I also love!
| Jeans
Madewell has quickly become my favorite brand for denim. They're great quality, stretchy, and the fit is amazing!
| Purse
I actually got this purse on sale at Target but it looks like it's not on sale online. It would totally be worth checking an actual store, though!
| Flats
I love, love, love these flats. And they're on sale right now! They're still a little pricey, but I've learned that paying for good shoes is worth it in the long run!
